Meet Dr. Preston Curbirth

Dr. Preston Cutbirth

Dr. Cutbirth grew up in Magnolia and graduated from Magnolia High School in 1976. As a child from the ’60’s a mouthful of cavities left him with a surprisingly good relationship with his dentist! “I felt like I grew up in his office and had fun joking around and getting to know the dentist. I hadn’t considered it as a profession, however, until I found myself without a job at age 25. A chance to re-evaluate my life and find God’s plan for me led me to take a personality test to find out what I wanted to do. Dentistry was at the top of the list so after I talked to my dentist and a friend at church who was in dental school I decided to go back to college and prepare to apply for admission to dental school. Fortunately, I was accepted into the dental program at The University of Texas Dental School in Houston in 1985.”

Learning to Provide Patient-centered Dentistry

Dr. Cutbirth was an expert at being a dental patient so it made him a very compassionate dental student at the University of Texas Dental School in Houston. He graduated in 1990 and moved back to Magnolia with his wife Elizabeth to open a dental practice.

Living a Family-oriented Life

Dr. Cutbirth and Elizabeth have three children. They’re big Baylor University fans, where their older son Steven attended school. He and his wife Kelly now have a family of their own that includes their newest grandbaby, Ben. Dr. Cutbirth and Elizabeth travel to Austin as often as they can to visit Ben, Clara and Amelia (and Steven and Kelly too). Their middle child, Elizabeth Anne attended Sam Houston State University in Huntsville and is now attending the University of Texas School of Dentistry in Houston, Dr. Cutbirth’s alma mater. Their youngest son, Robert, recently graduated Baylor University, 2021.

Dr. Cutbirth enjoys spending time with Dr. Sanderson, who is his closest friend and golf buddy. The Cutbirth and Sanderson families get together as often as possible since becoming friends. Dr. Cutbirth and his family have attended First Baptist Church of Magnolia since moving back to Magnolia in 1990.
